Interview with our new President Jordi Bravo

“Leadership is about empowering others”

Jordi Bravo has been elected as the new President of EYP Spain as of 2025. With a long-standing commitment to the European Youth Parliament and extensive experience in youth participation, Jordi now takes on the role of leading the national board and strengthening EYP’s impact in Spain. In this interview, he introduces himself, shares his motivation, and outlines his vision for the years ahead.

Welcome, Jordi! What are your first impressions as President of EYP Spain?

Jordi: Thank you. Above all, I feel grateful and motivated. Becoming President is a huge responsibility, but also an opportunity to give back to an organization that has shaped me profoundly. My first impression is that we have a dedicated, talented, and diverse community that truly believes in the values of dialogue, participation, and European cooperation. That gives me a lot of confidence for the future.

You have been active in EYP for several years. What have been the most formative experiences for you?

Jordi: For me, the most formative experiences were always the moments of collaboration across cultures. I remember sitting in committee rooms with people from different countries, backgrounds, and perspectives, and realizing how much we can achieve together. Those experiences taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of listening before speaking. They also gave me the conviction that young people are not only the future of Europe, but very much its present.

What are your main priorities for EYP Spain in the coming years?

Jordi: I see three main priorities. First, ensuring inclusivity, EYP Spain must be open to young people from every background and region. Second, investing in sustainability, both environmentally in how we run our events, and institutionally, by building a solid and lasting organization. Third, strengthening our connection with the wider European network, so that our members feel part of something larger than themselves. At the same time, I want to support the volunteers who make EYP possible; their development and well-being are crucial.

Why do you think youth participation is so important today?

Jordi: Because the challenges we facem from climate change to social inequality, cannot be solved without the voice and energy of young people. We bring new perspectives, creativity, and a willingness to question old assumptions. Youth participation is not just about preparing future leaders; it’s about making sure that decisions today reflect the reality and hopes of the younger generation. In that sense, EYP is a living laboratory of democracy.

What personal leadership style will you bring to your role as President?

Jordi: I see leadership as service. It’s not about being the loudest voice in the room, but about empowering others to express theirs. I try to lead with transparency, empathy, and accountability. My aim is to build a culture where every member feels included and valued, and where creativity and initiative are encouraged. In my view, success is collective — and my role is to help create the conditions where everyone can thrive.

Finally, what message would you like to send to the members of EYP Spain?

Jordi: My message is simple: EYP Spain belongs to all of us. Every member, no matter how new or experienced, has something valuable to contribute. I encourage everyone to be bold, to take initiative, and to trust that their ideas matter. If we work together, with openness and enthusiasm, we can make EYP Spain not only a stronger organization, but also a home for inspiration and friendship.
